How the calculator works
Production credited = production × the rep’s split share. A 50/50 split of a $20,000 placement credits $10,000.
Commission = credited production × rate. On a retro tier plan, all production is paid at the rate of the highest tier reached; on a step-up plan, each rate applies only to its own bracket.
Draws: a forgivable draw tops commission up to the draw and forgives the difference; a non-forgivable draw advances the difference and carries it as a balance. Read forgivable vs non-forgivable draws for worked examples.
Calculator questions
How do you calculate commission?
Multiply the production credited to the rep by their commission rate. With a split, first multiply production by the rep's share. With tiers, a retro plan pays all production at the rate of the highest tier reached; a step-up plan pays each rate only on the production inside its bracket.
How is a forgivable draw calculated?
The rep is paid the larger of their commission and the draw. If commission is lower, the difference is a top-up that is forgiven, so nothing is owed back.
How is a non-forgivable draw calculated?
Commission first pays down any balance the rep already owes. If what's left is less than the draw, the rep is paid the draw and the gap is added to their balance; if it's more, the rep is paid the rest and the balance is cleared.
