Commission splits and overrides, calculated for you

When one placement or policy has several names on it, ClearComp divides the production credit by split code, runs each share through that rep’s own plan, and pays manager overrides on top — with every share visible on each rep’s payout.

How splits and overrides work in ClearComp

Split codes
Name a split once — who participates and at what percentage — and record sales against it. ClearComp creates a production credit for each rep automatically.
Production-credit splits
Each rep's share counts toward their own production and tiers, and their own commission rate applies to it. Reps on different rates each get the right number.
Tiered split percentages
A split code can change its percentages as production crosses thresholds.
Overrides
Pay a manager a percentage of another rep's commission — either on top (additional) or taken from the rep's commission (deducted). Overrides are calculated on personal commission only and never stack.
Visible to reps
Reps see their share of each split code's production and any overrides they earned, line by line, in their portal.

One $20,000 placement, split 50/50

Split code S-001 (AE + Recruiter): the account executive earns 8% and the recruiter earns 10%. Their manager has a 2% override on the recruiter, paid on top.
Account executive (8%)
Production credit (50%)$10,000.00
Commission at 8%$800.00
Recruiter (10%)
Production credit (50%)$10,000.00
Commission at 10%$1,000.00
Manager override
Recruiter's commission$1,000.00
Override at 2%Paid on top; the recruiter still earns $1,000.$20.00

The three ways to split a commission — and why production credit is usually the right one — are compared in how commission splits actually work.

Split and override questions

What is a commission split?

A commission split divides the credit for one sale between two or more reps. In ClearComp you split the production credit, so each rep's share runs through their own commission plan and tiers.

What is a split code?

A split code is a named configuration, such as “S-001: AE + Recruiter”, that lists who shares a sale and at what percentages. Record a sale against the code and ClearComp creates each rep's production credit automatically.

What is a commission override?

An override pays one rep, usually a manager, a percentage of another rep's commission. In ClearComp an override is either paid on top of the source rep's commission or deducted from it, and overrides never generate further overrides.

Can split percentages change as production grows?

Yes. A split code can have tiers, so each rep's share can change once production crosses a threshold.
